A blog is a website with chronologically ordered articles or postings. A wiki is a website on which multiple authors can easily create and edit pages. Combining the words blog and wiki produces the ugly word, bliki, but combining the functions of wikis and blogs produces an incredibly useful class of online appliance. Blikis, I am sorry to use this word but the alternatives are even uglier, blikis are the next generation of online collaboration software.
Blikis bring collaborating groups together in ways that blogs or wikis cannot do on their own. Within a bliki, individuals or groups can have their own spaces for chronologically ordered and threaded, discussions and records as well as working together on document refining and preparation. A bliki facilitates group interaction, dramatically reduces the need for multiple emails and acts as a central knowledge store, notice board and journal of events. Face to face meetings run smoother because all participants are prepared and already know the concerns of other participants.
