- Language that may cause offence is avoided
- Evidence is provided to give message legitimacy
- Images and text that reader is familiar with are included
Article readability
- Structure guides reader through text
- Headings have stand alone meanings
- Language centres around the reader
- Active tense used whenever appropriate
- Information couched in positive terms
- Text broken up into easily digestible chunks, one idea per chunk
- Chunks are well structured with content introduced in first sentence
